WHITE TO BLACK/ 2089: ALTERITE -2016 Tout au long de mon parcours, je revisite les codes de représentations, interroge l’identité en multipliant davantage les possibles et bouleverse certaines de mes certitudes pour me laisser surprendre par de nouveaux horizons.
White to Black-2089 ALTERITE, met en scène des participants français issus de l'immigration. Elle s'intègre dans un travail au long cours sur la transmission de notre identité et celle de nos descendants, à l'heure du tricentenaire de la Révolution en 2089. Dans une dimension prospective, j'intègre, rassemble et compose de nouvelles identités dans le partage de leurs singularités, différences et diversités. En m'inspirant de problématiques actuelles et de mes questionnements sur l'avenir, j'ai imaginé des personnages venus d’ailleurs, ouverts sur le monde comme s'ils étaient sortis de contes et légendes futuristes. Alors que mes précédents travaux tournés sur mes ancêtres furent réalisés en argentique, j'ai traité ce volet en numérique afin de mettre en avant l'aspect moderne et la projection futuriste qu'il implique.
This series of portraits involves French participants from the broad spectrum of immigration. It is
part of a new trilogy (2089: ALTERITY) and a long-term analysis of the structures and perceptions of our identity, as well as of our descendants, at the time of the commemoration of the tercentennial of the Revolution in 2089.
Throughout my work I endeavour to reflect individual and plural identities, contrary to stigmatizing and discriminatory indicators. I experiment with the face of otherness, here in a futurist projection, to get a better understanding of our differences.
It is now a question of broadening my thoughts on a multiculturalist post-communitarianism integrating new identities gathered and formed with a spirit of openness to "others," sharing their individualities, differences and diversities.
Against the backdrop of a globalized cultural mix broadening the outlines of the identity arena, some on the contrary see fear of an all-embracing world furthering the erasure in progress of this
same space, giving rise to identity-related tensions.
Inspired by the current socio-political problems, discriminating events that I have experienced and observed, my different concerns about the future and living together, these portraits reflect new globally minded characters from some place else, as if from contemporary tales and legends.
For me this is about questioning the way in which to apprehend and define our identity within a cultural mix through my images evoking mixed race or even hybrid portraits.
